Who was Daryus Bryant? Student Athlete Shot and Killed in Manchester, Ga

A Manchester High School football and track star, Daryus Bryant, was shot and killed Saturday night.

Columbus Police responded to Macon Road near Lake Shore Road concerning shots fired around 11:50 p.m on Saturday, April 20th.

Upon arrival, they discovered two vehicles that had gunshot defects to them and two individuals inside each car suffering from a gunshot wound(s).

The victims, identified as Daryus Bryant and Clarence Flavors, were transported to Piedmont Hospital where Bryant succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The other victim, Clarence Flavors, was rushed into surgery.

Bryant played for the Manchester High School Blue Devils Football and was a member of Manchester High School track team.

He had just placed 1st in the High Jump at the Region 6 track meet and was a 2x Region Champion.

Bryant had also just competed in 2 state championship games (football and basketball) and had several D1 offers.

Meriwether County School System put out this statement: “Meriwether County School District is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Manchester High School student Daryus Bryant. Daryus was an exceptional young man who excelled both in athletics and academics.

“His untimely passing will undoubtedly cause concern and raise questions within our community, but we remain committed to supporting each other during this challenging time.

“We will offer on-campus resources for students and keep the other student injured in this unimaginable tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Bryant family, and we wish them peace during this difficult time,”
