Who was Emery Mizell? Bronx Teenager Stabbed to Death, 15-year-old Charged with Murder

Emery Mizell, 17, was a Bronx resident who was stabbed and killed Thursday by another teenager.

The suspect, a 15-year-old girl, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Officers responded to a call on Thursday afternoon about a 17-year-old girl who had been stabbed at an apartment building in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx.

They found a young girl stabbed outside her home when they got there.

Mizell was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

“I’m devastated, I’m numb, I’m in disbelief,” said Emery’s father, Tony Mizell, 39, in an interview on Friday.

He said his daughter was caring, talented and smart, and that she loved to rap and dance. “My daughter was a beautiful soul,” he said.

The 15-year-old suspect, who has not been identified, has also been charged with manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon, the police said.

According to ABC 7, as many as 10 teens were present during the assault. Aside the main suspect, two other teens, a boy and a girl, were interviewed as witnesses and released.

Emery attended nearby Metropolitan Soundview High School and was set to graduate this year, her father said.

She was stabbed shortly after leaving the school, according to David C. Banks, the New York City schools chancellor, who mentioned the attack during a town-hall meeting in Manhattan on Thursday night.
