Sherrelle Bassett was a Yazoo City, Miss, woman who was shot and killed by her partner, who turned the gun on himself.
Yazoo City PD were called to conduct a welfare check around 9:45 p.m. Sunday by a relative who reported a possible missing person.
When authorities arrived, they found a mother-of-two, shot dead with the suspected perp, Ravonta Fowler, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“It appears as if it was a murder-suicide, but we are investigating any other possibilities,” said Chief Terry Gann.
“We’re not ruling out any other possibilities at this time.”
Gann says Fowler was arrested earlier this year on a domestic violence charge. Bassett was also the victim in that matter.
He said the welfare check was conducted after a relative of Bassett reached out to the department. He said autopsies will help determine when the shooting occurred.
