Luis Napoles Murder-suicide

It all began over the weekend when three people were found dead in what police described as a murder-suicide shooting in an apartment on Bird Road in southwest Miami-Dade on Saturday night.

Miami-Dade Police officers responded to a condominium, located at 7004 Southwest 40 Street, shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday night in response to a shooting.

Once there, officials found a woman outside of an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound.

While rendering aid to the victim – now identified as Meghan Moore – officers heard another gunshot coming from inside the apartment.

Immediately, MDPD evacuated the building and called the Special Response Team to enter the apartment, police officials said.

“At that point, resources were called out. The Special Response Team responded and made entry into this apartment where they located another female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, as well as a male, suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Miami-Dade Police Det. Andre Martin told NBC6.

After finally entering the unit, officials found another woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and a male suffering from an apparent self-inflicting gunshot wound.

All three people were declared dead on scene.

“At this time, we believe that everyone involved in this tragic incident is accounted for,” Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin said Saturday.

“This was an isolated incident — a very tragic, but isolated incident.”

Police provided more details in a press conference on Monday.

According to Miami-Dade police, Luis Napoles, 40, arrived at his girlfriend’s condominium complex Saturday night and shot her just outside her unit.

Officers then heard the sound of a gunshot coming from inside the apartment unit.

Officers believe Napoles killed Capolino before taking his own life.

“During this situation, out of an abundance of caution, the residents of this condominium building were evacuated and asked to stand by as our Special Response Team did everything they have to do to bring this to a safe conclusion, so that there was no further loss of life,” Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin said.

A motive for the murder-suicide remains unclear.

Police initially said all three lived together but clarified in Monday’s release that Luis Napoles lived away from Meghan Moore and Capolino.

Officials say the investigation continues and they ask anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
