Who were Marisa Dister and Russell O’Connor? Wheeling Couple Found Dead in Murder-Suicide

A Wheeling couple found dead in their homes Thursday of a suspected murder-suicide have been identified.

Wheeling Police said the bodies of Marisa Dister, 46, and Russell O’Connor, 44, were discovered Thursday in their home on the 300 block of 12th Street.

Officers were called to the house about 5:45 p.m. after the bodies were found by someone checking on the couple.

Authorities discovered a gun near the bodies when they arrived.

According to Wheeling police, they had received calls to the residence before due todomestic issues.

“Our social services unit was familiar with the decedents,” Deputy Chief Al Steffen said.

According to the Daily Herald, Dister was an accountant but also worked at a Wheeling bar while O’Connor had been a contractor.

A neighbor also told the publication that the couple had been in an on-again, off-again relationship for a longtime.

“They were sweet and nice,” she said.

Kapuscinska said Dister and O’Connor had broken up and reconciled several times.

“They couldn’t live without each other,” she added.

Autopsies for the couple are expected to be carried out later today.

Wheeling police said there is no danger to the public.
