Who is Jordan Phipps? Omaha Man Left Critically Injured In DUI Crash That Killed Samuel Rohl

Jordan Phipps is an Omaha man who was involved in a 3-vehicle crash that killed one person and left two people injured.

Phipps was critically injured in the crash near I-680 and Fort Street Wednesday that killed Samuel Rohl, also of Omaha and injured Scott Jackson.

Omaha PD, who are investigating the crash, determined alcohol was a factor.

In a statement released April 10th, Omaha PD said: “Omaha Police Department accident investigators are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at Fort Street and Interstate-680 Wednesday night.

“Officers responded to the scene at 11:40 p.m. for a three vehicle accident. Officers determined a gray Nissan Versa driven by Jordan Phipps, 23, was traveling east on Fort Street when it collided with a black 2018 Honda Accord that was turning left onto Fort Street from the I-680 northbound off-ramp.

“The driver of the Honda was identified as Samuel Rohl, 29. A white Hyundai Elantra driven by Scott Jackson was struck by debris from the accident.

“Rohl was declared dead at the scene by Omaha Fire Department Medics. Phipps was transported to CUMC-Bergan Mercy Medical Center in critical condition, with life threatening injuries.

“Alcohol use is considered a factor in this crash. The investigation is ongoing,”

Sgt. Adam Turnbull with the Omaha Police Department said that they believe Phipps was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

“A suspected DUI driver struck another vehicle. The vehicle that was coming off of 680, that driver is deceased,” Turnbull said.

Turnbull also said that the other driver was also involved in a hit-and-run crash near 120th and Fort just before this deadly crash.

Charges have been filed against him whilst the investigation continues.
