Gavin Barmore, 17, of Rutland, Vermont, was killed following an accident in Mendon on Sunday.
Two other teenage passengers in the car were left critically injured.
The accident occurred when Barmore was driving northwest on Notch Road shortly before 6:00 Sunday morning and lost control.
He veered off the roadway near the South Mendon Road intersection and struck a tree.
Despite wearing a seatbelt, Barmore died at the scene.
His two teenage passengers, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, sustained critical injuries.
They were initially taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for further treatment.
Investigators are searching for potential witnesses. They ask you to call the VSP Rutland barracks at (802) 773-9101 if you saw anything.
