Jonathon Jones, 20, was arrested and charged after causing a crash in Knoxville that killed two women including his pregnant wife.
The accident last Friday around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Raccoon Valley Road and Hausmond Way.
Jones was driving east when he crossed into the westbound lane and hit a Ford Expedition head-on.
Officials with Rural Metro said, “Several were trapped and had to be cut from the wreckage.” According to court documents, five people were injured and taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.
Casandra Jones, the only passenger in Jonathon’s car, was declared dead in addition to her unborn baby.
In the Ford, police said the driver and two passengers all suffered injuries. One of the passengers, Virginia Brooks, died at the hospital Saturday morning.
Jones was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, improper passing and three counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication.
