Who were Joseph and Gail Bailey? Washington City, Utah Couple Killed by Trans Daughter Collin ‘Mia’ Bailey

A Washington City, Utah couple who were shot and killed by their son who was transitioning to become a woman have been identified.

Joseph Bailey, 70, and Gail Bailey, 69, were murdered by their son Collin Troy Bailey who also goes by the name Mia Bailey on Tuesday.

Washington City Police were called to a shooting at 1039 East Chinook Drive around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived, they found two adults, one woman and one man, who had died from apparent gunshot wounds.

Collin’s sister had fled the house after hearing the gunshot wounds and called 911 from a neighbor’s house.

Authorities quickly developed Collin (Mia) as a suspect and began tracking him.

Bailey was later arrested after a showdown with cops which involved intense negotiations.

“Mia complied with what we were asking, set the gun down and was able to get up and walk over to our officers who were able to take her into custody,” said Lt. Kory Klotz with the Washington City Police Department.

According to court documents, Mia spoke with police after her arrest and admitted to shooting and killing her parents. She reportedly said she had no remorse for doing so, and she would not change what she did, saying: “I would do it again. I hate them.”

She also admitted to shooting at her brother who was hiding with his wife in the home where the shootings took place.

The bullet did not hit the brother but Mia reportedly said “she would not have been sad had the gunshot killed him.”

Mia added that she had a “falling out” with her parents and her brother.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of two counts of aggravated murder, one count of attempted aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, and several counts of felony discharge of a firearm.
